Flooring work in New South Wales ranges from coating a garage floor to laying timber, carpet or tiles. Before you hire, check the contractor's licence: NSW Government pages say residential tiling, waterproofing and minor trade work above $5,000 in labour and materials, including GST, needs a contractor licence. The official list does not name carpet laying, floor sanding or epoxy coating, so those are worth asking Fair Trading about. NSW Flooring lists independent businesses from public Google Maps data. It is a directory, not a contractor.

How NSW Flooring works
- Filter by region and service. Pick a NSW region and the type of flooring work you need.
- Compare businesses. Each profile shows the Google rating, review count, address, phone and how it compares with others in the same region.
- Contact them directly. Ask for a written quote and check the licence before you pay a deposit.
The businesses are independent and are not NSW Flooring staff. Listings come from public Google Maps data, so check a business directly before you rely on it. Service NSW has an online licence check, explained in our step-by-step guide.
Quick answers
Do I need a licence for flooring work in NSW?
It depends on the trade and the value of the job. NSW Government pages say residential wall and floor tiling, waterproofing and minor trade work above $5,000 in labour and materials need a contractor licence. The official list does not name carpet laying, floor sanding or epoxy coating, so ask NSW Fair Trading. Read the licence guide.
How do I check a contractor's licence?
Service NSW offers an online check by licensee name, licence number, licence type, ABN, ACN or location. Check before work starts and match the licence class to your job. See the steps.
How much deposit can a contractor ask for?
NSW sources say the maximum deposit is 10 percent of the contract price, and Home Building Compensation cover is required where work is worth more than $20,000. Read the hiring checklist.
Where does the data come from?
Every listing was collected from Google Maps on 22 October 2026. Ratings and reviews are Google's. NSW Flooring does not verify licences, insurance, services or workmanship. Read the methodology.
Does NSW Flooring show prices?
No. The directory lists no prices. The guides quote price ranges from supplier and contractor pages and label them as indicative. See an example.
