How Much Does Epoxy Flooring Cost? Per m2 and Garage Examples
By Faiz Azizan · Updated Thu Oct 22
Published Australian prices for installed epoxy flooring run from about $35 to $120 per square metre, depending on the source. One contractor gives $60 to $120 per m2 for homes and light commercial work. These are contractor and directory figures, not NSW averages, so treat them as a guide and get written quotes.

How reliable they are
The sources disagree at the low end, which is why we show both. None of them is an official or independent national average, and none is specific to NSW. Most come from businesses that sell epoxy work.
Worked arithmetic
A 36 m2 garage
A 36 m2 double garage at $60 to $120 per m2 comes to $2,160 to $4,320. That is our arithmetic on the contractor range. It sits below the decorative garage examples above because those include a decorative system and preparation.
Other sizes, same range
At the same range, 20 m2 comes to $1,200 to $2,400 and 60 m2 comes to $3,600 to $7,200. Small jobs tend to cost more per square metre because fixed costs are spread over less area, so the low end is unlikely to apply to a very small floor. Use these numbers to sanity-check a quote, not as prices.
What raises the price
Preparation
Diamond grinding adds roughly $15 to $25 per m2 in the source above, and oil, cracks, moisture or an old coating raise the cost further. Preparation is often where two quotes differ most.
The system
Flake and metallic finishes cost more than a basic two-coat job. The garage examples show metallic running roughly a third to a half above flake.
The resin
Fast-curing resins carry a premium. See polyaspartic vs epoxy garage floor.
Slab condition
A damp slab may need a moisture barrier: see moisture barriers for epoxy floors. A cracked slab needs assessing first: see concrete crack repair.
How to use the figures
Ask for the same things from each contractor
Ask for the area, the preparation method, the product, the number of coats and the warranty in writing. Our checklist for comparing flooring quotes fairly lists what to line up.
Remember the contract limits
NSW sources say work over $5,000 including GST needs a written contract and the maximum deposit is 10 percent. On a $4,000 job that is $400. See the contractor hiring checklist.
Licence question
The NSW licence list does not name epoxy coating, so whether a licence applies is not confirmed. See do you need a licence for flooring work in NSW before you hire.
Find contractors
NSW Flooring lists 56 businesses with a confirmed epoxy service, from Google Maps, retrieved 22 October 2026, and shows no prices. Quick answers
Is epoxy cheaper than polished concrete?
In the sources we found, epoxy is the cheaper and easier option, but we have no NSW price for polished concrete to compare.
Do these prices include GST?
The sources do not say consistently. Ask each contractor whether the quote includes GST.
Why is one quote so much lower?
Check whether it includes grinding and the same number of coats. A gap of $15 to $25 per m2 can be the grinding alone.
Is a cheaper basic system worth it for a garage?
That depends on the slab and on how the floor will be used. A two-coat system is the low end in the sources, and it is cheaper partly because it does less. Ask what it leaves out.
