NSW Flooring Contractors by the Numbers: Ratings, Reviews and Coverage

By Faiz Azizan · Updated Thu Oct 22

NSW Flooring lists 1,505 flooring businesses across 22 NSW regions, compiled from Google Maps on 22 October 2026. The three biggest regions are Western Sydney (214), Newcastle & Hunter (145) and South West Sydney (118). This page reports what that data shows and where it stops. It covers Google Maps listings only, not every NSW flooring business.

How regions are defined

Each business is placed in a region by its own street address and postcode, not by the search that found it. The regions are groupings of postcodes defined by NSW Flooring. They are not official government regions, so a business near a border can sit in a neighbouring region.

Why small regions have few pages

Smaller regions have few listings, so their service pages are not indexed until they reach 5 businesses with a confirmed service. That is a rule about search indexing. The businesses are still listed and the pages still work.

How the businesses are rated

Rating bands

Google rating Businesses Share of listed
5.0 859 57%
4.5 to 4.9 381 25%
4.0 to 4.4 156 10%
3.0 to 3.9 100 7%
2.1 to 2.9 9 1%

Review counts

Review count Businesses Share of listed
1 to 9 reviews 726 48%
10 to 49 reviews 528 35%
50 to 199 reviews 225 15%
200 or more reviews 26 2%

What the two tables say together

Ratings cluster near the top and review counts are low for many businesses. Together that means a high rating is common and a long review record is not. Reading Google ratings for tradies explains how to weigh the two.

Businesses by confirmed service

Counts by service

A business is shown under a service as "confirmed" only when its name or Google category names that service. One business can be confirmed for more than one service.

Service Businesses with a confirmed service Median Google rating Regions with a ranked page
Epoxy Flooring 56 5.0 3
Polished Concrete 43 5.0 2
Concrete Resurfacing 34 4.9 3
Timber Flooring 262 5.0 16
Vinyl, Hybrid & Laminate 11 4.9 0
Carpet 132 4.7 9
Commercial Vinyl & Carpet Tiles 9 5.0 0
Commercial & Industrial Coatings 4 5.0 0
Decking 55 5.0 5
Floor Tiling 161 5.0 14

How the service tiers work

Of 203 service-and-region pages built, 52 have 5 or more businesses with a confirmed service and are indexed. The other pages stay available to visitors and are marked noindex until a refresh raises their count. Websites and contact details

1,232 of the 1,505 listed businesses (82%) list a website on Google Maps. Phone numbers are listed for almost all of them, because a business needs a phone number or a website to be included at all. The directory shows both exactly as Google Maps did on 22 October 2026.

Limits of this data

What the figures cannot tell you

  • It is a Google Maps snapshot, so closed or new businesses may be missing or out of date.
  • Ratings and reviews belong to Google's users and are not verified by NSW Flooring. See reading Google ratings for tradies.
  • Service classification uses the business name and Google category only, so it can be wrong.
  • Businesses rated 2.0 or lower, suppliers, manufacturers and businesses without a phone number or website are not listed.

How to use the numbers

Use them to see where the directory has depth and where it does not, not to rank businesses. Read how businesses are selected for the directory for the full rules.

Quick answers

Is this every flooring business in NSW?

No. It is the set of Google Maps listings that passed our rules.

When was it collected?

22 October 2026.

Why are some regions larger?

Region size follows the number of Google Maps businesses whose address falls inside the region's postcodes. It reflects population and trade activity, and also how many businesses keep a Google profile.

Can I download the data?

Not as a file. Every listing is on a public page, and the regions and services above link to them.
