How NSW Flooring Compiles Its Directory: Sources, Gates and Refresh

By Faiz Azizan · Updated Thu Oct 22

NSW Flooring compiles its directory from Google Maps listings, retrieved 22 October 2026. It lists 1,505 flooring businesses in 22 NSW regions, places each by its own address, and indexes a service page for a region only when 5 or more businesses have a confirmed service there. It shows no prices and does not verify licences.

Where the data comes from

The source

Every listing was collected from Google Maps. For each business the directory records the Google rating, review count, address, phone number, website and Maps link. The retrieval date is shown on every page.

What is not collected

The directory does not collect prices, photos or testimonials. Google's "About" tab was collected too, but for browsers without a Google login it held little beyond accessibility details, so it is not shown.

Why the retrieval date is shown

The data is a snapshot. Businesses open, close and change details, so the date tells you how old the figures are. Check a business directly before you rely on a listing.

Who is listed

The listing rules

A business is listed when it has at least one Google review, a rating above 2.0, a phone number or website, and an in-scope Google Maps category. Suppliers and manufacturers are left out. 1,505 businesses passed these rules.

What the rules leave out

Places with no address, no reviews or a rating of 2.0 or lower are not listed. That is a quality and completeness filter, not a judgement of any business.

How regions and services are assigned

Regions

A business is placed in a region by its own street address and postcode, not by the search that found it. The 22 regions are groupings of postcodes defined by NSW Flooring.

Services

A service is "confirmed" when the business name or its Google category names that service. This is a single-source rule and can be wrong, which is why unconfirmed businesses appear only as "services not confirmed". 725 businesses have a confirmed service and 780 are shown as "services not confirmed". All 1,505 have a profile page; a page is indexed only when the business name or Google category is floor-related.

A worked example

A "Floor sanding and polishing service" in Google's category list is confirmed for timber flooring. A "Flooring store" is not confirmed for any single service, because the category does not name one. The store is still listed and appears on its region page.

Why some pages are noindex

The page counts

The site builds a page for every service and region that has at least one listing: 203 pages. Only the 52 with 5 or more confirmed businesses are submitted to search engines.

What happens next

The rest stay available to visitors and are marked noindex until a refresh raises their count. A page changes by itself when the data does, so no address changes.

What the directory does not do

Licences, insurance and quality

It does not verify licences, insurance or workmanship, and it does not endorse a business. Check licences with how to check a flooring contractor's licence in NSW and read do you need a licence for flooring work in NSW.

Ratings

How to read the ratings is in how to read Google ratings when choosing a tradie. The ratings are Google's and are not adjusted.

Claims, corrections and removals

Business owners can ask for a correction or removal on the report page. Details come from Google Maps, so updating your Google Business Profile is the fastest fix. The full rules are on the methodology and disclaimer pages.

Quick answers

How often is it refreshed?

The data is a snapshot from 22 October 2026. A refresh schedule has not been set, so check a business directly before you rely on a listing.

Can I get my listing removed?

Yes, through the report page.

Who compiles the directory?

Faiz Azizan, named on the About page and in the footer of every page.

Why does a page say "services not confirmed"?

Because the business name and Google category do not name a flooring service. The page says so instead of guessing.
